About the product
Pablo Picasso’s “Still Life with Tulips” (Nature Morte aux Tulipes) is a captivating painting that beautifully blends elements of portraiture with a traditional still life composition, a hallmark of his innovative approach. Painted in 1932, this work features the serene profile of his young mistress, Marie-Thérèse Walter, alongside a vibrant vase of tulips. Marie-Thérèse’s head, rendered with her characteristic rounded, sensual forms and a garland of green leaves, exudes a sense of peaceful contemplation. The still life elements are equally vibrant; the red and yellow tulips burst from a decorative, striped vase, adding a splash of color and life to the scene. The deep reddish-brown background provides a rich contrast, allowing the figures and objects to stand out prominently. This painting is a testament to Picasso’s ability to infuse everyday objects with personal significance and emotional depth, creating a harmonious yet visually dynamic composition that bridges multiple artistic genres.
