About the product
Pablo Picasso’s “Portrait of Nusch Éluard” is a striking and elegant depiction of the Surrealist artist and muse, Nusch Éluard, from 1937. This painting exemplifies Picasso’s Cubist-influenced portraiture, where he masterfully combined geometric abstraction with a recognizable likeness. Nusch’s face is rendered with his signature multi-perspectival approach, featuring a prominent nose and large, expressive eyes that convey a sense of calm and poise. She wears a distinctive hat and a stylish, almost military-inspired jacket, with whimsical brooch-like figures adorning the lapels. The cool palette of blues, greens, and yellows, contrasted with the stark black of her attire, creates a sophisticated and modern aesthetic. This portrait captures Nusch’s unique style and her significant presence within the Surrealist circle, showcasing Picasso’s ability to imbue his subjects with both artistic innovation and profound personality.
