About the product
“Girl Before a Mirror,” painted by Pablo Picasso in 1932, is one of his most celebrated and psychologically complex masterpieces. The painting depicts Marie-Thérèse Walter, his young mistress, standing before a mirror. The left side of the canvas shows her in her youthful, radiant form, rendered with soft, sensual curves and vibrant colors. The right side, reflecting in the mirror, reveals a distorted, darker, and more fragmented image of her, representing her inner turmoil, mortality, or perhaps the psychological effects of aging. The mirror itself is a vibrant, multi-colored frame, amplifying the dreamlike and surreal quality of the scene. The rich tapestry of colors and patterns in the background further enhances the emotional and symbolic depth. This painting is a profound exploration of identity, self-perception, transformation, and the duality of human existence, making it a cornerstone of Picasso’s Surrealist period.
